Engineering refers to the systematic analysis and development of measurable physical data, using Applied Mathematical, Scientific and technical principles, to yield tangible end products which can be made, produced and constructed. Mathematics plays an important role in many fields of Engineering and Technology. The use of Mathematics is an invaluable aspect of the engineering design process, as well as applied to various steps within this process. All fields within Engineering require an advanced knowledge of many mathematical methods, including Algebra, Calculus, Geometry, etc. All Engineers need to be able to formulate practical Engineering problems in mathematical terms. They must also be capable of solving the mathematical models, if necessary with the aid of a computer, and of interpreting the solutions and understanding the practical implications. It is important to maintain the correct balance between theory and practice, analysis and synthesis, and logical solutions and intuition. Mathematics takes up a significant part of the Engineering Education. For this reason courses are specifically designed to meet the needs of engineers. The Department gives complete knowledge of Engineering Mathematics at the same time, applications of these techniques that are of interest to the different branches of engineering are dealt with. This is the quality of an engineer at the highest level. |
